Digital parking solution used by 190 municipalities and organizations across North America offers flexibility and reduces operational costs
April 7, 2026 – Arcadis (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the world’s leading company delivering data-driven sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets, has been awarded a five-year contract with the City of Vancouver to implement HotSpot, an innovative mobile parking management solution designed to improve parking efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance the street parking experience for residents and visitors.
Beginning April 7, 2026, Vancouver drivers will have another option for paying for on-street parking with the HotSpot parking app, a solution designed to integrate seamlessly with the City’s existing parking infrastructure and made available across all on-street parking zones. The solution offers configurable account preferences, transparent parking history, and easy-to-use parking maps, allowing drivers to easily manage their parking digitally. Drivers looking to pay for parking through HotSpot can do so via signage and instructions available at on-street pay stations.
“HotSpot’s innovative approach is largely independent of traditional infrastructure, allowing Vancouver to modernize its parking system without heavy capital investment or ongoing maintenance costs,” said Rahul Mehra, Global Portfolio Director, Revenue Systems, at Arcadis. “By integrating with the City’s existing infrastructure, we can offer a solution that meets the city’s diverse needs, and ensures a reliable, fully digitized parking system. We're thrilled to be part of Vancouver’s journey toward a more efficient and sustainable city.”
Vancouver joins a growing list of organizations and communities in British Columbia that are already using HotSpot, including the Provincial Health Services Authority and municipalities such as Surrey, Nanaimo, Prince George, Vernon, and Cranbrook.
The digital solution has also performed in other Canadian cities. In Edmonton, for example, HotSpot was implemented ahead of a major surge in parking demand tied to the 2024 Stanley Cup finals. Integrated with Arcadis’ CurbIQ curbside management solution, it supported real-time updates on parking availability to help drivers make informed choices, reduce congestion, and enable more than 1.7 million contactless transactions since launch.
HotSpot, owned by international design and engineering company Arcadis, is used by around 190 municipalities and government-funded organizations in North America.
