Perry Barr is a suburb in Northwest Birmingham, well connected and only four miles from the city centre.

It is a vibrant, diverse community where 46% of residents are below 30 and 60% are BAME (black, Asian, and minority ethnic). However, due to a historic lack of investment it suffers with high levels of deprivation, high unemployment, poor education attainment and poor housing stock.

Birmingham City Council (BCC) seized the opportunity to accelerate a £500million masterplan for the vital regeneration of Perry Barr. Arcadis was appointed by BCC as lead consultant providing multi-disciplinary services. Perry Barr’s legacy mandates creating an exemplar high-quality neighbourhood incorporating an increase in large multi-purpose green spaces. It set out to offer a high-quality, healthy living environment for all ages with sustainable, affordable housing, and improved connectivity and employment opportunities.
