Singapore, September 28, 2021 – Arcadis Pte Ltd (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the leading global Design & Consultancy organization for natural and built assets, is honored to be spearheading a proof-of concept to inspect and detect defects on roads and road-related facilities with the use of video analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Singapore.
Arcadis has developed a system – the Arcadis Asset Image Recognition (Arcadis AIR) that has been successfully deployed for highway inspections for Rijkswaterstaat, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management in the Netherlands since 2018. Using an image recognition model, Arcadis AIR can recognize close to 95% of road defects, repairs, traffic signs, streetlights, and road markings. This partnership will potentially automate existing inspection processes, enhance productivity by 50%, improve workplace safety and produce more reliable results.
In line with Integrated Digital Delivery, Arcadis hopes to help pave the way for continuous exploration of digital technologies to improve processes in support of Singapore's move towards a Smart Nation.
In addition, this collaboration will also contribute towards efforts to enhance the maintenance of Singapore’s infrastructure for urban mobility.
